Taylor University film students Elise Masters, Joel Rodgers, and Adeline Heuser have brought Upland, Indiana’s story to the screen with their short documentary, Main Street Milestones, now available for viewing on YouTube. Created as part of the Producing for Clients course, the documentary was produced in collaboration with 1846 Enterprises over the course of a semester. It originally premiered at a community event in late January as part of the Main Street Mile Initiative, offering residents a chance to reflect on the town’s storied past and look forward to its bright future.

The documentary traces Upland’s journey from its early days to the present, showcasing the town’s resilience, rich history, and ongoing development efforts. By weaving together historical insights and contemporary community perspectives, the film captures Upland's character and the momentum behind revitalization projects like the Main Street Mile. Now available on YouTube, Main Street Milestones allows a broader audience to appreciate Upland’s unique story and its promising future.

This project is a testament to the excellence of Taylor University’s Film and Media program, which equips students with hands-on experience in professional filmmaking. Through real-world client collaborations, students gain practical skills in production, storytelling, and media strategy—preparing them for impactful careers in the industry. Main Street Milestones is just one example of how Taylor filmmakers are using their craft to engage with communities and preserve local history through the power of film.
