Hospitality Node
Collegiate Inn
The presence of Taylor University and other local attractions bring many visitors to our community, but a current lack of overnight stay options leads most to stay in Indianapolis or Fort Wayne, spending their dollars outside of Upland. Following the example of similar communities, the Main Street Mile Initiative will include a boutique collegiate inn adjacent to the Taylor University campus, designed to capture room-night demand that currently goes outside of Grant County. Through this project, we aim to channel room-night demand directly to our community as a driver of economic development.
Active Adult Community
Throughout the grant planning process, residents voiced a need for a variety of housing options in Upland, including a development to serve those who currently live in family-sized homes, but are looking to downsize, a market that is currently not served in Upland. To meet this need, an active adult community will be developed as part of the Hospitality Node adjacent to the Taylor University campus, allowing residents access to the lively atmosphere and many amenities of a college campus. If you would like to be placed on an interest list for this development, please let us know at hello@uplandmainstreet.org
